Custom Night Guards
Multiple options for patients with sleep disorders

What are Custom Night Guards?
They are:
● Mouthpieces made from durable plastic or acrylic.
● Custom-fit to your teeth using molds or digital scans taken by a dentist.
● Worn during sleep to prevent tooth damage, jaw pain, or headaches caused by grinding or clenching.
What to Expect
● Your dentist will ask about symptoms like jaw pain, headaches, or worn teeth.
● They may examine your bite, teeth alignment, and jaw movement.
● You’ll discuss whether a night guard is right for you.
2. Impressions or Digital Scan
The dentist will take a mold of your teeth using putty or do a digital 3D scan.
This ensures the night guard fits perfectly and comfortably.
3. Guard Creation (Lab Work)
● The impression is sent to a dental lab.
● The lab uses durable materials (usually acrylic or flexible plastic) to craft a custom-fit guard.
● This takes about 1–2 weeks.
4. Fitting Appointment
● You’ll return to the office to try on the night guard.
● The dentist will check the fit and make any needed adjustments for comfort and proper bite alignment.
5. Care Instructions
You’ll be shown how to:
● Clean it daily (with toothbrush, mild soap, or special cleaners).
● Store it properly (in a ventilated case).
● Avoid heat (don’t leave it in a hot car or near hot water).
6. Follow-Ups (if needed)
● If your guard feels uncomfortable or you notice changes in your bite, your dentist can adjust it.
● Some people get it replaced every few years, depending on wear.
